*GENEVA BID BEGINS PLANS FOR
JULY EVENT; VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
CRUISE INTO GENEVA FOR A NIGHT OF FUN GENEVA – Cruisin’ Night Block Party, a Geneva tradition that gets bigger and better every year, is back Friday, July 8, from 5 to 10 p.m. in downtown Geneva.
Start with vintage cars, trucks and motorcycles, mix in live entertainment on two stages and kids games, add a dash of wineries in the wine tasting alley, stir in tasty treats … and you have a recipe for good fun for all ages. “I challenge anyone not to have a good time on Cruisin’ Night,” said Bob Stivers, president of the Geneva Business Improvement District, which organizes the annual event, now in its 12th year. An added attraction this year is the 2011 HOG (Harley Owners Group) Rally will take place on the same weekend from July 7 to 9 at the Ramada Geneva Lakefront and the city’s Lakefront Park. The event will attract 2,000 to 3,000 people to Geneva. Details at www.nystatehogrally.com.
Last year Cruisin’ Night brought more than 6,000 people to downtwn Geneva. 2010 was the first time that Cruisin’ Night became Cruisin’ Weekend and a weekend of events is planned again this year. The popular Geneva Firemen’s Parade on Saturday night will take pace on July 9 and you’d better get there early to get a good spot for the big parade. Cruisin’ Night bands will include DILF aka The Dads, Pulsate, D.T. and the Brown Baggers and Agonal Rhythm.
